NT: Cookie Carrier

I love to share homemade treats with friends and neighbors, and the pre-delivery hustle often turns frustrating when I start searching high and low for something with which to hold said goodies.

"Where are the paper plates?" I wonder, while turning my pantry upside down.

"Do we not have any disposable plastic containers?" I fuss, yet again, while practically riding on my 'lazy susan' in pursuit of something- ANYTHING- to give the treats in.

While these items abound in my house whenever I don't need them, as soon as it's time to deliver goodies, they've all been kidnapped. Sure, I could run to the store and pick up something to do the job, but it somehow ruins the spontaneous fun of it all. Incorporating a visit to the store turns any small job into a production, and I'd rather keep it simple. Off-the-cuff. Whimsical, if you will. Not to mention thrifty.

So my Nifty Thrifty idea for today is to make your own Cookie Carrier using basic items that you can almost always find at home.

You will need an empty cardboard box of some kind (preferably the size of a cereal box or something in that range).
And I used a brown paper sack from the grocery store. Get creative if you don't have a paper sack. Think of what else you could use! (fabric, freezer paper, etc...)

Cut the box roughly in half, or to the size you'd like.

I used the handles from the paper sack and glued them to the box (but you could easily make your own).

Then I cut down the paper sack to fit my box. I then wrapped it around and glued it in place, folding the bottom edge like a present.

Now I can add tissue or waxed paper and fill it with cookies. I'll probably even make a cute gift tag to hang on it, too. Do you think my recipients will ever guess how their Cookie Carrier came into existence? I don't think so!

Thanks, ladies! I've got to admit... it's a lot cuter than delivering cookies on a paper plate. :o)
